Hi all -
I have a peahen who has been sitting on eggs for the whole day, then getting off and roosting in the tree at night. She's been doing this for about a week. Am I right to assume these eggs won't be viable as the incubation would have started in the day and then cooled at night? Has anyone has any similar experiences??

Many thanks for your help!!

One of my young pullets that has just began to lay fertile eggs does this. I'm following because I would like an answer as well. She will sometimes sit on the eggs during the day hop off run around for a little bit and get back on them. It's only Day 3 so I can't tell what is going on- I currently moved them under a different broody hen hoping they may still be viable. When I go in the coop and check the nest box she fluffs up her feathers and makes a screeching noise. She will sit in an empty nest box for hours and now I feel bad for taking them but I don't think she knows what she's doing... lol
