Ok Im a newbie to all of this. One of my peahens just laid an egg. I really want this to hatch. What to I do? Let her set or pull it and incubate the egg?

Any help would be great!

Thanks
Cynth

Congrats on the egg!

Why not just let her sit on it? Peahens are good at hatching peaeggs - and unless you have a lot of experience, she's more likely to hatch it than you are (I only say that because many hatchers here say how difficult pea hatching in an incubator can be!).

If the egg is safe from snakes and rats i would leave it and wait till she lays more that way you can take some time and decide what to do if she does not sit her clutch.
Congratulations it is always a treat to get that first egg

She has just laid it on the ground. Should I put a bed of straw in or anything for her?? Is moving the egg to that bed ok??

If she just layed it out in the open on the ground and not in a divit in the dirt she isn't likely sit the egg right there.
Once they do make a nest area if you try to move it she will likely move somewhere else or just give up and lay anywhere then you will need to find another method of hatching your eggs.

She is in a enclosed area not free range. So she will be right there with the eggs. SO would it be ok to make a nest for her and move the egg??

Peahens got a mind of their own , they and they only decide when and where they are going to lay and if they happen to sit where you want them to it would be pure luck, you can build her a nest and put her egg in it but t is likely to be a waist of time better spent doing something more productive

Thank you for the info. I will just provide nice clean straw for her and then allow her to do her thing! Thanks for your time!!! Wish me luck! :D
