The grocery delivered the wrong peanuts - I ordered raw peanuts for making peanut brittle for the holidays (Yum!) but I got a huge bag of shelled peanuts, unsalted, for wildbirds, etc. Are they safe for my chickens? I have five Black Copper Marans and they are good eaters, very fond of almost anything I give them. I don't want to give anything that makes them sick. Thanks for any info y'all may have.

The chickens here happily eat peanuts and are especially fond of walnuts which grow here.
In parts of Africa where peanuts are a major source of protein for humans they are also a major source for chickens.
They've been eating walnuts for as long as there have been chickens here.
They will peck pieces off walnuts but peanuts are small enough to be attempted whole.
I chop peanuts when I give them to the chickens.
