Can peat moss be used as bedding in the chicken house? Is it absorbant? does it work well? Does anybody use it?

I typed 'Peat Moss' in the BYC search bar - several threads came up - seems seem like it and some don't.
Pros: very absorbent and fluffy
Cons: dusty

I didn't read all the threads so try the search and see what more are saying. Best of luck!

When peat moss get wets, it stays wet for a long time.

Agreed. I've been considering using it in my brooder, but I don't think it would work well in the coop. I still went with pine shavings in the brooder this time bc I kept thinking "what a mess if the waterer turns over". It'd probably be great for ducks or geese though!
