Pebbles in the automatic waters?

Why do some people put pabbles in the automatic waters? Just Curious.

I know of people putting them in waters to prevent chick drowning, not auto waters though.

teach chicks to drink, they see the pebble/marble/penny and peck it and discover water

not in autos' tho they work by weight and a marble can shut them off, use with gravity fed

Chicks will find the water on their own. I have never Put their beak in the water.

I just put some marbles in there so they don't fall in and drown

we do it to stop the chicks climbing in and drowning. Chicks have this sort of wierd instinct thing where they want to be in water when they're tiny coz it's watery inside the egg they "grew" in.

if you put pebbles in the water to chicks will drink in between the pebbles and if they step in it won't be very deep and they'll be fine. hop this helps!
