Hello friends! I have been on here for a while for all of my quail and chicken gossiping… but this is my first time ever having a duck! We welcomed this beautiful 6 week old Peckin into our backyard flock- with its best friend, Cinderella (African Goose). They have been raised together.

I am really struggling to tell the gender of this duck based on its sound. It is like a low honking noise. I believe that we are too young to have drake feathers, correct?

Thank you!

At 6 weeks a male ducks voice would still be maturing. It would go between peeping, low quack or raspy noises and even whistles. At 6 weeks a females voice would be starting to switch. Females have a more classic quack sound. Some Pekin hens can be quite loud.

No squeaks thus far! I will see if I can snag a video to post on YouTube and share my link.

Thanks y’all!
