Pecking chickens

I have five chickens that I have to say are spoiled like crazy! They have plenty of space inside a safe place, half a yard to roam (with a fence to keep out critters), a warm coop, plenty of protein, fresh water, no mites and a lot of love.

Everything I've read about a pecking problem doesn't exist with my chickens. It doesn't bother any of them that everyone else, including themselves, is pecking at them. I think two of my chickens are molting, but they're getting plenty of help pecking their feathers out. No blood has ever happened. They aren't mean and they really don't seem to have a "pecking" order.

Everyone I've talked to says they've never had this problem. What am I doing wrong or are my chickens just really odd?

I don't want anyone to have this problem. I just am hoping I'm not the only one.:(

Are your hens picking on each other constantly? Because I have a huge pen with lots a room and food and toys but they still like to congregate together, sometimes a younger one will get to close for a older hen and she'll scare her off.

Are they plucking feathers out, or are they eating them? If they are molting and eating feathers, they need more protein . Eating feathers is a way they get some. OR maybe they are just spoiled birds and like to pluck each other.

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! If the ideas you have been given don't help, I suggest you post in the ''chicken behaviors and egg laying'' page. I hope you enjoy BYC!
