I have five chickens that I have to say are spoiled like crazy! They have plenty of space inside a safe place, half a yard to roam (with a fence to keep out critters), a warm coop, plenty of protein, fresh water, no mites and a lot of love.
Everything I've read about a pecking problem doesn't exist with my chickens. It doesn't bother any of them that everyone else, including themselves, is pecking at them. I think two of my chickens are molting, but they're getting plenty of help pecking their feathers out. No blood has ever happened. They aren't mean and they really don't seem to have a "pecking" order.
Everyone I've talked to says they've never had this problem. What am I doing wrong or are my chickens just really odd?
I don't want anyone to have this problem. I just am hoping I'm not the only one.
