Pecking issue-What am I missing!

Agreed. But, if I have to many and are going to have to cull to thin then why? We currently are looking at the cows to see where we can ship some to make room for others that will be freshening in a month. Some will have to go to make room for the others. While, I don't have more chickens coming in I do, unfortunatley, have to much production. I never expected the mutt pullets to produce the same as their sex link mothers!

I saw where you were going to cull but this one was not on the cull list. I don't know what your criteria to cull is and that is your business. I also do not know if this type of aggressiveness is inherited but I think it is. If it is, do you want to keep this trait in your flock? It is your decision and your business, but I'd consider not letting this one breed if you raise your own replacements.

If I put the peepers on Perdita, will she still be able to see to be able to eat and drink properly? I don't want to make her life miserable (even though she is making everyone else's life miserable!). My chickens are pets.

Yes, her vision would be limited to the peripheral vision, meaning she could only see off to the side and not forward. It's a little hard to peck if you can't see what your pecking so it works.

I do raise my own replacements but, this year I'm not going to be keeping any unless something major happens. This year everything will be meat birds.

I turned her back in with the others Friday afternoon. They greated her with beating wings but, nothing drastic. So far everything is going good!

I brought my suspected pecker into the house today. Hopefully, everyone else will get better now! I can't keep her in the house forever, so I may have to go the peeper route if she continues once I put her back out in the coop. When did my chickens get so stressful!

Hopefully, after separating her for awhile, things will be fine.

Do you have a crate or carrier or something that you could keep her in the garage in? Maybe that would be better for you than the house?

I don't mind her in the house. I just had one in there for 3 weeks healing from a foot injury! She went back outside yesterday and I was so sad! It's a lot of work cleaning the cage every day and doing twice the chicken chores but she was really, really cute. When I let her out of the cage, she would follow me everywhere. She would race up whenever I opened the refrigerator and get right in there until I fed her salad. And we would play the sunflower seed game; I would throw sunflower seeds on the floor for her and she would chase them.

Pat even learned to stay off the counters. Her and the cats would walk right by each other.

I hope Perdita will be as much fun! I KNOW she will be as much work!
