pecking order and introductions

so, i am introducing my hens to some pullets i just got from my sister.
my hen is not at the top of the pecking order of our current 4 (the two RIR are) and i guess what I am wondering is...
can pecking order change? for example, she could be top hen in this little flock of pullets even though she isn't top hen in our current foursome.

i watched them for awhile, they challenged each other, she got the best of most (quite gently actually, she is a 'nice' chicken) but finally one got her on her achilles heal, her comb (which was injured by a racoon, but has healed) and she wanted out. So i let her out.

so i'm rambling, but my question is this. Is it likely that once not dominant, always not dominant? Will the RIR's always be the top hens unless some of the pullets get their act together and challenge them (and win)?

I think it can change in a heartbeat..It seems mine take turns.

I pulled one of my chickens out for ICU. She now seems to have moved down the pecking order and hides more than she use to.
