pecking out feathers

Any suggestions to help me stop my chickens from pecking the feathers out of each other. Is there any vitamin deficiency that may be causing this.

I've heard sometimes they do that when they are a bit overcrowded. How many do you have and in what space?

Slather some pine tar on the effected areas and start feeding them meat scraps(treat only!) or let them free range. They'll stop immediately but it'll take a while for the feathers to grow back. After a month pine tar them again. If you do not have meat scraps dry cat food as a treat works.
