Pecking the sides of the brooder

Mine did it the worst in a grey colored dog crate. They would dig down under the bedding and peck the floor - nonstop. Like little jackhammers when I was trying to sleep

Mine do it too in a wood brooder box. I figured out finally that there was one white little spot that they just can't stop pecking at, it sounds like a constant tapping like someone hammering little nails. I have been listening to it for weeks!

The first time my DH asked what the noise was, I told him it was the carpenter. He just looked at me like what are you talking about crazy woman??? LOL

**edited for bad word typo, oops!

Thank goodness my brooder's going to be on the other end of the house from bedrooms! My wife would disown me.

Mine do this too, one more so than the others. There is a seam in the plywood about 18 inches up, so now they "fly" up to check it out. I think it's just curiousity, in my case at least.
