Pecking

Well I tried the hardware cloth and they hated it. Absolutely flipped out. The Brahma rammed herself into the wire until she passed out from exhaustion.
So it's gone now. Maybe I'll need to get another chick and see how that works. *shrug*

I could always buy a younger chick for the Brahma and a bigger one for the Dela and keep them in two brooders. UGH.

It's wild huh? Brahma is getting picked on by the other chick, but seperate them and the brahma goes nuts cuz she can't be with the bully! Chickens are a tad bit nuts.
Like Elmo said, a few more chicks might even out the odds in the brooder.

I put the barrier back up between them and the Brahmas down feathers are growing back thankfully. They aren't enjoying the barrier but they are getting used to it. What bothers me so much more is the developmental issues the Brahma is having or seems to be having. Her wing feathers are growing in strange, jagged and split. Her stature is short and squatty with a strange hint of roundness and her excrement is always liquid with little solidity. In comparison with the Delaware she appears to be stunted and deformed. Often I find her sleeping and uninterested in the environment. The intake of the food and water is the same for both of the chicks: non-medicated chick raiser and water from the tap. The Delaware has flourished and is a wonderful example of a healthy chick while the Brahma appears to be failing?

I am at a loss...OTL
