I swear these chickens are going to be the death of me!!
One of my chickens was being crabby with the other 2, so i brought her in for 3 nights/days, during that time she ate pee pads! quite a bit too! While I was working.
Lose stool, then she would scratch and pick at the wet portion of the pee pad. I asked my son to put towels in instead, and he put them on top, 2 of them, covered them well, she scratched them up to get to the pee pads! Urgh!
This was Sunday and Monday. It's early Friday morning. She boarded during the hurricane in case we needed to evacuate and since I brought her home, she is still having super loose stool, low volume of solids. How can I help her pass them? I was thinking coconut oil maybe?
I'm so stressed about this. Poor chicken.
:(

I'd give her a dish of grit. She should pass them, though, and that'll help any stuck in her crop.

Molasses are a laxative (1 teaspoon per cup of water) but she doesn't need that unless she gets constipated from them.

Might be a good time for some probiotics too if she was eating the wet ones with poo fluids on them. That'll put some good bacteria in her digestive system.

Thank you! I may give her some molasses anyway since all she is passing is liquid! I'm so worried about her. :'( and they get a pro/acidifier in their water pretty frequently. Is there something better?

I would be patient, and use the grit and possibly offer some chunks of chilled coconut oil to help her pass the material.
Thank you. The three have grit available all the time. Should i isolate her with a bowl of it to ensure she is eating it? They are all outside in their pen. Its 10*10, 6' tall with a roof.

No, she should probably remain with the others just having the grit available. She would be more comfortable there. You might offer some wet chicken feed to all of them, so she is getting fluids with food.

Thanks, they get fermented feed every day as well as a feeder that hangs all day with pellets. They all eat some of both throughout the day.

Great news! Her first day outside, towards the end of the day, she had a normal poo, not watery. But it was tiny. She had coconut oil bits twice today and fermented feed twice and I let the all out to scrounge for a bit before sundown. Hopefully she is on the mend.
