peeper sick again

My son's hen is ill again... took her to the avian vet again and he feels a mass that he thinks is not egg yolk peritonitis but rather a tumor. We are trying to keep her comfy and warm. Now she has really stinky diarrea and I feel terrible. I was terrified that she would die yesterday (son's b'day) but she is hanging in there... just needed to vent

Awww, I am so sorry to hear she is sick. Do you have other chickens? I hope she makes a full recovery.

I got up this morning and peeper had died during the night...I had her in a quiet area of the kitchen and for some reason my son didn't check her this morning so I will have to tell him when I pick him up from school. He held her last night and she fell asleep in his arms and he was so pleased. We raised her and 2 others from day old chicks. We lost one last fall to a mink so we are down to just one hen and one roo. I'm so sad. What fun little animals! We will miss her much!

How sad, I feel for you. There is a "Memorialsl" thread on here for special pets you want to remember...maybe your son would like to do one for Peeper. We raised some chicks from the eggs, too, and were very fond of them as they spent a winter inside with us...we only have one left; lost all the rest to predators.
