Pretty pictures. Just curious...I don't know anyone who has ducks. What is the main benefit or pleasure in keeping ducks? Eggs, companions, showing?

Quote:all of the above? lol! I originally got ducks for eggs but I have fallen head over heels in love with them. I could sit on my deck and watch them for hours. Peepers is my house duck and goes almost everywhere with me. I also plan to show a few ducks at the fair this year, it will be my first time so it will be quite the experience!

She is very pretty! Is she a snowy mallard? There are some for sale around here and are beautiful but I am wary of flying breeds.

Quote:snowy mallards are mallards with the snowy pattern where welsh harlequins are a separate breed. the color genetics are also different if i remember correctly

Sorry first time trying to raise ducks so all these breeds are mind boggling.
