Peeping coming from the egg

I've had a chick peeping like crazy in the egg for 2 days now without any evidence of breaking out action. I held the egg up to my ear and I can hear it piping but still no actual hole. How long do they chirp like that before breaking FREE

I've never noticed the egg chirping before. Momma jumped off the next to get a quick drink of water and I heard the peeping. Today is day 21!!!!!!

You should see some action anytime now if it is day 21. They can make noise for several days prior to hatching that's normal.

Ok, stupid question (it's been awhile so I'm due)

Will I hear actual peeps coming from the eggs closer to their due day? I'm a first timer and my broody bantam girl is trying to hatch 6 eggs. I feel like an idiot asking this question.

Yes, you may hear peeps any time after they have pipped the air cell inside the egg. which usually happens on day 20.
