Peeping if I am not there?

They peep like mad if I am not in sight, and quiet down when they see me. Why? They have food and clean water, and they seem happy with the brooder plate... One also seems to favor one foot, and the off foot is slightly darker than the other.

what kind of chicks are they? sometimes they imprint to you as the mom. if not feathered out, make sure they are truly able to get warm enough, well, or cool enough for that matter, just in case they are peeping out of distress.

Pretty sure I'm mom to one of the Wyandottes and maybe one of the Australorps. The Buff Orpingtons are friendly, but not in the fall-asleep-in-my-hair way. They... Might just miss their mama?
