Hi, I have Muscovy babies that have peeped 2-3 days ago, I put air holes in because they are taking so long to hatch, they have been have been hollering, one especially , I thought maybe it was having a hard time so I would take a look. it doesn't have a clear sack wrapped around it instead it has a white one is this okay or is it going to cause problems. Its very active, opening its mouth, an such. Is this normal for it to be wrapped in white or is the white suppose to be hooked to the inside of the egg. Should I lay a wet cloth or paper towel over it to keep it from drying out? I'm so confused . I recused these , and have been incubating them. I believe the mom does a lot better job... lol... Please help

The mouth opening, does it look like yawning? If so you need to leave them be it indicates they are still absorbing yolk. I see some pink membrane in your pics, definitely leave them at least 5 more hours or so. The peeping is probably them just talking to each other, it might be their way of hurrying each other along.

I am not a pro on hatching eggs nor do I want to be , ..LOL ,Ill let the professionals do that. I'm just trying to help the lil things. If I would had left them the possums would had finished them off.I read that if that if the incubator is opened the membrane will shrink around the baby and cause hatching to be impossible ,do you think that could be going on seeing how it is taking them so long to hatch? Because obviously I opened the incubator.....:he

That's great that you are helping them, good job. They are not shrink wrapped as far as I can tell, the membrane looks nice and clear in the pics. As long as the membrane isn't brown or dark yellow they should be good. What are they doing right now? Any yawning?
