Peeps in Nov! Really?

Your grass is still real green, and look at that dandelion in bloom!!!!!!! Lucky you, it must not be too cold where your at. i bet momma and babies will do just fine.

I counted 15. Your chicks almost look Sex-Linked. I see some solid black and others with a white spot on their head. What is the father of the chicks?

That picture is adorable!! 15 is ALOT for her to sit on and manage--What a good mama!

I had setup a nest box with lid by the horse stalls and close to where she hatched them (hay stack) and when we got home last night from clam digging she was all settled in and cozy in the box. guess she's not ready to move them to the chicken side of the barn. The rooster is a Jersey Giant as I don't think the Welsummer rooster was mature enough at that time. Her last few from earlier in the year looked just the same. I think they are sexlinks since it's purebreed / purebreed out crossing.

This morning everything is white outside and the temp is 33, a hard frost on what's left of the pumpkins

Since Dad is a JG then the all black are probably girls and the ones with a white spot on their head are boys. Looks like you got about a 50/50 mix of roos and hens. One of my hens just went broody too. I guess she doesn't know how to read the calendar!

This moring she had them out as we were feeding and the spread out and there are 16!!!!! Remodel on my 12 brooder box. Adding a door on the side and will move them there today with mom. Thinking that in a very short amount of time they just won't fit under her and temps are dropping. That way I can turn on the heat lamp above and have a warm area just in case. They will be able to come & go during the day but be warm at night. Currently she's keeping them away from the main flock.
