peeps

Miracles happen! I have a young, strong, sporting dog (Brittany). Their specialty is "birds".
I have trained him to be gentle with the hens. It was not easy, but if I keep an eye on him,
he is very good, being the type of dog that loves to please their master and being VERY
smart and easy to train. I started letting him look into the brooder and calling them "his
chickies". We round them up on the acreage together and bring them into the paddock
which is a smaller enclosed area with their coop. The only thing is, if I leave him unattended
with the hens for too long a period, he will, for the fun of it charge one or two of them and send
them running wildly back to the paddock on their own................Rascal! Some may think I
am crazy for doing this, but we are all in the same family and need to learn to get along and
take care of one another. So far, so good!

My dog Casey goes crazy over the bunnies and squirrels in our yard. Duke on the other hand is a sheltie and they are bred for herding so i think he will be interested but won't try to eat them. They will be in a coop, so they should be safe. I thought after we get them i would introduce the doggies to them. I am getting anxious for them to get here and caring for them and my daughter is just as excited!
