Peggy Sue is Suddenly Not Doing Well

The amber fluid may be serous fluid (serum, plasma) which contain fluid and proteins. It can take weeks for skin to grow over a wound, or for the edges to come together.

That’s what I was thinking as well. I wish she would perk back up! She was a happy, talkative and pretty hungry girl just two days ago.

Have you been washing the wound?

When we had a hen injured as yours is (by a dog), we made a sterile saline solution and put it in a spray bittle. Every morning and evening we flushed the wound thoroughly with this saline solution. This way we were able to keep it clean without scrubbing it. Then we gently blotted it dry with a paper towel, smeared it with neosprin and sprayed it with Veterycin to seal it. The wound healed nicely in about three weeks.
