Thank you folks! Such a shame, what are the odds.We can’t keep cockerels with our neighbours so close. They’re the friendliest little things too 😥.
Any ideas what we can do with them? Any tips on re homing them?

Are you not allowed to keep them in your area or do you just think your neighbor wouldn’t like it. These are different, if your neighbors just wouldn’t like it, I think you should keep one, give them fresh eggs and hope they don’t mind the crowing. You would still have to rehome the others though. There is a rehomeing section in this forum, and you could post in your state thread. Make sure to add pictures and state your location in those posts. Also ask everyone you know who has chickens, maybe they know someone who would take one, or could take one themselves . A good old fashioned flyer could work as well. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your helpful advice! We would love to keep one, especially as they have been raised by us, but I fear the crowing will drive the neighbours crazy if it’s early in the mornings. We live in a rural area, but it is a small village.

Can I ask if it’s a given that all roosters will start to crow eventually? Or is that wishful thinking - a cockerel without a crow… 🤔

If it’s allowed to keep one, you could ask your neighbors, and see if they really would mind. If you want to keep one, even if they mind, you should. Do your neighbors have barking dogs, or loud kids? Do they ask you if you mind? Just some things to think about. You will still need to rehome two though… good luck! I had an accidental rooster and I live in the area where rooster is not allowed. I kept him and thought until they complaint, then I will deal with it. He did not crow until he was almost a year old. He slept in the coop in the garden with his flock. I woke up at 5:30am to put a collar on him, then he crowed earlier, and I woke up earlier until it reached the point of 4am I moved him into our closet and he slept there since. He crows all he likes and he crows from 3am. He wore a collar around 10 hours a day as he crows more often and he had a mighty voice.

It troubled me to put a collar to reduce the sound of his crow, it ruined his neck feather, but to live this is the option available to him. He enjoyed his life with his flock until last week that he was euthanized due to ill health. I regret euthanizing him, I missed him dearly, but at the same time I feel that he is free from wearing a collar.

Our next neighbour said to me that the other neighbour a few houses away do not like the crow, but no one say anything except this neighbour. That was all I got from our neighbours.

I had a 2nd accidental rooster and I rehomed him to an animals rescue farm - I was told that he will be free ranging with the other animals in the large open space. After a month, I told my mom, she got upset I took him back and found that he was very sick, they did not look after him at all. I never rehome any animals in my care again. If I did not take him back, he would have died a slow painful dead.

Some of my neighbours have chickens and they do egg song throughout the days. Dogs barking, traffic and I think they don't mind a crow here and there so long it was not at 3am, that is just my guess.

I hope you can keep your roosters or find them a real good home.
