Good luck with the hatch; hopefully that 17 days does not drag out and feel like 17 weeks! Hatches are so very exciting and I do not think I will ever get tried of seeing those beautiful little chicks and their proud mumma.

FourteenChicks you are the first person I have spoken to who also has a Langshan! I know very little about them; I was told that Dusty was a Bantam Langshan when I purchased her and she does have partially feathered feet and the beautiful big brown eyes that Langshan's are renown for.

I definitely think broodies are much better than incubators, I have never owned an incubator in my life. Broodies give them the chance to be mummies !! :). Croad lanshans are considered very rare in the states but I live i n south of England and they are very popular and aren't considered rare.

17 days is seeming like a lifetime to me :) can't wait !!

Same to you! I don't really know much about Aretha (the Langshan) because my dad got her off one of his friends who needed to get rid of them. She has been picked on and seeing as how she is a fully grown hen she is very hard to calm down and very jumpy. But recently when I let the chooks out she has started to come down to the house and slightly calmed down

I may have a picture somewhere...I'll have a look and I'll have a look at your Dusty too I only thought Langshan were the one type!!!
 
Interesting FourteenChicks; when I purchased Dusty she was the only one in the cage at the feed store as she had been picked on by her siblings and was missing feathers etc. The shop assistant told me that she would be very surprised if she would settle in with another flock as she was subsequently very timid and a bit of a mess. She even offered to take her back if there were any problems. Needless to say, I fell in love with those big brown eyes and felt so very sorry for her, I took her home.

I have had her probably 12 months or so now and it was definitely a slow process, even though she still does not like being picked up, she does talk to me constantly and quite happily takes food out of my hand. She is an important member of our little flock and is actually 2IC behind Cilla, the matriarch.

Nothing like the scared little girl I bought and now a beautiful, confident little girl:

Wow! She is very pretty!!! My one doesn't like being picked up at all but she is calming down a bit. One time my dad and I had to pick her up and treat her legs because of mites and she started honking like a goose so we have left her alone since then :P I took some photos of her and I will upload them when I get on my phone. It's strange because I thought the only langshans you could get was the Australian Langshan :idunno Also everyone is saying 'i found them at the feed store'??? The only way I can get chooks is through markets or friends who are selling them! Anyway I will stop getting off track now :duc
