Pekin bantams first night

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Rosie and Peach are beautiful. If they are already sleeping on their roosting bar, they should continue to do so. Peach's pecking at Rosie is likely just a case of sorting out the pecking order (she is letting Rosie know that she is the boss). But I would monitor Rosie closely and if you notice and wounds starting to appear on her, I would put some Blue Kote Wound Dressing on the wounds. Not only will the Blue Kote protect the wound and help it to heal, but the terrible taste of if will discourage further pecking (at least in that area). If you are not familiar with Blue Kote, you can see it at http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/blue_kote_wound_dressing.html. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with Rosie and Peach.

Thanks for your advice. Greatly appreciated. Also another question. I'm a first time chicken owner and I was wondering when do you all open their doors in the morning. Sunrise? Or later? Thanks again.

I always open the doors right after I get up and get dressed (whenever that happens to be). If you are free ranging them, I would not let them out before sunrise.

If you want to meet others in your area check out the Aussie thread, "Australia, six states and one funny little island." BYC has a large Aussie community - always have room for more.
