Pekin CAN stand, but CAN'T walk.

When I initially found her, she was with everybody, but now she's in her dog crate (that she came with) and gets to interact with everybody else for the most part.

She hasn't laid at all, and no one else is laying to lead me to think that she might. Also I can't feel anything that would indicate her being egg bound.

We've been giving her vitamins in her water along with brewer's yeast daily for about three days now, and still no different.

A warm bath, egg bound or not, is not too likely. And I have a feeling she'd try to jump out.

We'll give it a few more days, and then I think I'll have to make a decision.

I'm also open to the idea that perhaps she has been exposed to rat poison. I have seen our Muscovy eat an entire young rat (before we were using poison) with out an issue, so I'm wondering if she might have eaten feces from rats feeding in their bowl in the middle of the night. I'm a bit embarrassed on the rat note, I've tried EVERYTHING. They even go into our garage for the feed (where the poison recently was) and the poison seems to be the only thing working to keep them away though. Traps just haven't worked. Tomorrow, we are going to get vitamin K1 as directed and see where to go from there.

Rats can turn up any time, any place, in spite of efforts to deter them.

I'm using bubble gum, to avoid the problem of pets ingesting rat feces or carcasses. Boogers (the rats) have been too smart to get caught in traps so far. But they are eating the gum.

Activated charcoal, (supplement you can buy at the drugstore in capsules) a few capsules' worth (I open them and sprinkle the charcoal) in a half gallon of water may bind toxins and help out, if that's the problem. And it won't cause any harm if it's not a poison in the duck's system. All the ducks can drink it safely.

I feel your pain. I was having a huge rat problem I tried traps etc and would get one or two but that was it. They started coming out before dark and I had enough. I got poison. It was in block form and allowed them to feed for a few days. I was careful to check around for any dead/dying rats and found 2 that I disposed of but have not had a problem since.

I keep some of the block out just in case and check it for any nibbles. (it is in an out of the way area that the birds/dogs can't get to)

Does she have a large crop? Her digestive system may be compromised. I give my chickens ACV (apple cider vinegar) with the "mother". ONLY if I see they have an enlarged crop.

That seems to solve a lot of "problems".

Also, I have had rat and mink problems. Make sure that the ducks cannot access the poison. I make sure it is places that they cannot get at, but the rodents can and will. So far, so good.

But how do you keep the ducks from eating the mice, I don't know if they would eat a rat because of it's size, but I have seen my chickens eat mice and I know my Muscovies would if given a chance, I don't use poison because of it. Take their food away at night so there is nothing for the rats to eat.

I'm starting to dismiss the poison idea. I feel she would have been dead by now, if it was. I work at a zoo, and was talking to several people. And one had mentioned possible "West Nile". The symptoms are varied from different animals and cases, but it might just be a possibility. I'm looking into treatment for that.

It's good to search out any possiblity at this point, but doesn't West Nile come from Mosquitos? can't imagine any being around this time of year. Just hope you can find something to help. I will tell you this, Years ago a friends Irish Setter had puppies and they kept them in the garage with food and water down, the rats came inside the garage and ate on the dog food then the pups ate it, but the rats also pooped on the dog food and contaminated it, all the pups but 1 died. So it could be something along those lines too. Just something i just thought about.

At the zoo, we had quite a few animals treated for WNV. Mostly birds, chickens, owls, ducks, and geese. Not an outbreak by any means, but they got it. I found a video of very similar symptoms. This isn't my duck, but is acting almost exactly. Maybe a bit more energetic.
They gave it treatment for WNV, and the follow up videos show it acting normally.
