Pekin chickens...rooster or hen?

If it is winter it would not be unusual for them to lay late. Lighting helps their bodies determine when it is right time for them to lay.

No crow yet? That might be odd for a cockerel I think Lulu crowed pre hatching lol. I have cockerels that hatched in April and have been crowing for at least a month

So Dorothy is a nice name for a hen too

Lulu is a very handsome chap and a lovely name for a boy chook!
We’re still hopeful Dorothy is a girl, we’re not strictly allowed roosters where we are although I know a couple of our neighbours have one. If she is a boy, let’s just hope she’s a quiet one!!

Awe. Since she didn't lay before winter came it could still be a bit. I think my last chicken laid at almost exactly 11 months. I'm pretty sure she's a girl. Hormones get thrown off a bit when they hit maturity at the same time the sunlight gets short.
