Pekin comb infected

Hi Below are two pics of my lovely little pekin Millie (2.5yo), Just yesterday i noticed her comb was all swollen and infected looking. Has anyone ever seen this before and know what it is? I dont know if it is just a scratch that has got infected or an indication of a very serious disease. She is still eating well and acting normally. She is a little skinnier than she should be but i did think that was just because she just finished a moult. Any clues would be most appreciated!

It almost looks like a horizontal puncture wound through the comb base that became infected and abcessed. Nothing I have ever seen before, but I'd imagine wound care proceedings would be similar to that of a puncture wound in the flesh of the body.
