Our nearly 6 year old Pekin Drake has been limping for about 2 weeks now. Our first thought was that he simply strained his leg but now I'm suspecting there is a larger issue. He is eating and pooping normally however it seems like his behavior has changed. He is not interacting as his usual self around the other ducks and then I noticed that his abdomen seemed larger and after feeling it I'm certain that its not normal. His abdomen feels hard and I'm wondering if the limp is to compensate for the pain or swelling in the abdomen. He will be taken to the vet tomorrow and I'm generally concerned. Has anyone else experienced these same symptoms with a drake?

@Miss Lydia @MasterOfClucker @casportpony can you guys help?

I think you def need a vet to examine him. I have. 9 yr old Muscovy drake but never have experienced any thing like this with him. Getting a through exams would be best for your boy. Please let us know what the vet say. For now if just keep him comfortable and in a place where he isn’t struggling to walk around just rest an quiet and food and water for now till vet visit,

Thanks for the feedback. Our plan is pretty much as you suggested. Just praying there is something the vet can do for him.

Take him to the vet if you can. Let us know what the vet says!

I sure hope so too! :fl Is he pooping good? No problems there?
Pooping normally. He is usually a very energetic drake but now he seems totally withdrawn and isn't interacting with his girls much. Also, he is extremely sensitive around his backside area and his tail feathers are resting down when they are usually pointed up all the time.
