My pekin girls are great layers.They have given me a egg a day nearly since they started laying.The longest they went without laying was 4 days thats when it first started getting darker faster.They lay alot better than my chickens.They are also the friendliest of all my ducks. My daughteers adore them too.

Come on everyone post some pekin stories.
I have a drake named Daisey(were all supposed to be girls).When he was 3 days old he quit walking seemed fine just couldnt walk or stand he would loose his balence fall to his side,kick like crazy trying to get back up.I had to pick him up and put next to his food and water.He was 3x smaller than his siblings.As he grew his balance got worse he even had a hard time swimming.I kelp him in a box big enough for him to stand in but if he fell he would fall into the side of the box still be up right not on his side.Nearly lost him many times.He slept in that box by my bed thatway if he fell i would hear and could get him up right pronto.He had fell so many times he had sores on his left side where he would just lay there kicking trying to get back up.With lots and lots of tlc and warm baths Daisey is now walking and can keep up with the mallards and chickens i have housed with. His spine is all crooked and sort of hunched a birth defect.Cant keep him with the other pekins or muscovie cause they know something isnt quite right and jump on him.
