Pekin Duck Club!

Hi all. I just have one Pekin duck still not sure if she is a duck or drake. She is 9 months old no tail curl. Got her from a person who had 3-- 2 drakes(tail curl and thought this one to be female no curl. Got her for a friend for my old drake of 8 or 9 yrs old. They said she has never laid an egg. They talk to each other in a raspy kind of talk. She also makes other sounds kinda quacky but not really. He only makes one raspy sound and he is a khaki. Do females make that raspy talk and also a quack. I'm leaning to think she is a drake(which is ok as long as they get along ) which they do . any thoughts....
Beautiful! And I would say most definitely a girl! At 9 months the drake feather would be there. Hopefully you will start finding eggs from her soon :)

Are pekin just suppose to be used water because I put my 2 little guys in a baby pool today and as fast as they could run out of the water. What's the deal ducks are suppose to love water

maybe they were scared, give them time they'll like it.

Major breakthroughs on my Pekin ducklings not being scared of me any more!!! I'm happy! I felt so bad that they were so terrified! Now it's getting crazy how they attack me...

. I love it! Piggy and Pistachio are two weeks...and Pipsqueak is one week old now.

I haven't caught which one does it, but one of them does a some what long clear high-pitched single tone whistle when they hear me start talking to them on my way to them before they can see me and I can see them.....the other two do the little fast peeping sounds. They also go crazy and do little duckie dances and start running around all excited when I start saying "hi, duckies....hi, duckies" over and over in a real excited voice...what a hoot!....

Then some pictures of them after a late night bath they just had tonight. Pipsqueak comes over and wants to sit on my hand now while in the tub if he/she gets tired.

I see your giving them peas, are you providing grit? Ducks like chicks need grit to break down their food and need it to be offered to them 24/7 when they are fed anything other than feed.

Very cute.

That's great! I'm glad treats worked

They are all so sweet!

Thanks! Yep, treats, making myself look small to them at all times, hours of just watching them, daily baths, etc, etc....is paying off now! Now I'm getting them use to me in bigger form...

. If I was to of backed up a bit and taken a pic, you could see the grit container in a corner by the door. All 3 have been eating it. Thanks for asking though!...if I didn't, I sure would of liked to of known to do that! I appreciate everybody posting all their knowledge on here!!! ....I still have lots to learn, but it has helped me a ton already!!!
