Pekin Duck Club!

That may be it. I probably won't be getting more ducks any time this year. My parents are already building me a new coop and getting me 10 chicks in the Spring. I don't want to push it

For now I will just look at the photo's of everyone else's beautiful duckies!

You're more than welcome to join us :)

So I candled the eggs last night and I know its early but I dont see anything but yolk in the pekin eggs. I did however see development in the mallard eggs. My mallard eggs are mixed with my pekin/rouen mix male :) So its will be a total surprise as to what they turn out to look like. Oh and I got my quail eggs set in there with them yestarday :) I'm gonna give the pekin eggs a few more days to positive before I toss them.

Question for you all with adult Pekins. What do your eggs look like?

I started getting eggs from my yard birds a few days ago and this is their first (almost) spring. I'm not sure if it's all chicken right now or if my duck has started laying as well. 1 each of the last two days, but two the first day. The eggs are the same color and almost the same size.

It's not really important.. I'm just curious/nosey. lol

Soleil's first few eggs were chicken egg sized and then they got really big.

Hah ducks are way smarter than people give them credit for. Chickens too! A lot of animal trainers start with training poultry. If my duck could speak she would let everyone know its me getting trained... To give her treats :)

So how did you come to find Amelia and Gladys? They are so beautiful :)

Funny you should ask, we thought Amelia was a boy and named him Emelio. When she started laying eggs we changed it to Amelia! We just thought Gladys sounded like a good name for a duck. Raining all day on and off. Muddy, cold, miserable. Duck heaven for those too.

Po's first egg was smaller like a chicken egg but thicker shell. Here is a pic of the eggs I got this morning.
