That's sad. Seems to me there are predators out there just waiting for the next duck, and maybe the geese are too large for them to mess with for now. I would give up on the ducks since they cannot be kept safe there. Maybe the situation will change, and you'll be able to provide a duck-safe place some day.I wish we had some luck with raising ducks on our pond. Every duck we get disappears never to be seen again. What is weird though is we have no problem with raising geese. They just keep multipling . I love ducks they are so much sweeter & nicer than geese.
Thank you to everyone for your well wishes since I have been grieving the loss of my little Billie-Beak and her mate, Raptor. They have a special place in my heart and it has been very tough losing them. They were my sweet little babies and it hurts me to know the trauma they must have experienced when that fox came. It angers me that the person who was supposed to be watching them was negligent in caring for them and allowed this to happen, and then refrigerated Billie-Beak's fertile egg which I could have incubated even after I told her, days before, that I wanted to do so. We had a great vacation then had to come home to this. Sheesh.
