I have 4 one year old males and finally got lucky and got 2 females this year. I was worried that the boys would start getting too ruff with them as they got older but so far it's the other way around. The boys make sure the chickens don't mess with the girls but they are afraid of them. The girls are mean to them. They all run free range at night but are kept with chicken wire between them at night just in case. I hope the girls continue to keep them in line cause I dont want to get rid of any of them they are really part of the family.

Thank you for the "bonding pair" vibes!

They all are growing way too fast! I just want them to slow down!

I found it is usually fine with just one female and one male together........ so long as there are no other male ducks about.

I think the presence of other males makes they all go mad trying to compete for the female...

I have had pairs of chickens and ducks and they never had any problems. But I did have problems when I had 2 males ducks and 6 females.. the males always were chasing and mating with the females.. and also they would attack any ducklings that hatched. When I had the one male and one female pair the males was very good with the ducklings and they all used be together in one big family.

Here are Flower and Squacky late yesterday evening. Enjoying a mud puddle before bed. Please excuse the jungle. I live in South Texas and mowing has been impossible with the rain. It's still so bad my car got stuck in the mud in my driveway yesterday!

Good to know and thank you for your input. The only other males are my geese who are roughly 2 weeks old. I realize that could be a potential problem so I'm making arrangements now to house them separately at night and to free range the geese when they are old enough. Hopefully that will eliminate some of the problem if not all.

I have the same situation... I'm not sure how it will go but I'm hoping for the best. Henry is so sweet and timid where Hazel is brave and bossy! Maybe, that will help her when the time comes. I guess we will have to wait and see. :(
Sounds exactly the same. How old are hazel and henry? Do you know how old they will be when this will all start?

Oh yay!!! This means the world to me! Charlie and JoJo will make it! I have no other animals at all so hopefully, fingers crossed, everything will be just fine!
