Congrats!! Please tell Hazel that I'm very proud of her!

I bet it's expensive to do. But I agree my main concern here with JoJo has been what will happen once he hits puberty They just can't help themselves and with a lil one right there things can change so quick. Not wanting to scare you duckies but it's just the facts.of life.

Not nearly as much as "fixing" a female, boy howdy...Wobbles' procedure was quoted at $150. May seem steep, but for Bean it woulda been $400! And for a lifetime of non-aggressive drake behavior, I'd say it's well worth the cost. But I fully understand that I'm extremely lucky to have an esteemed avian vet that specializes in ducks, chickens and geese.

She has been making a little nesting spot in her house for a few days now. Normally I can't tell where they sleep in there because the woodchips are usually undisturbed. But the last few days there has been a distinct little round spot in there. I thought I would mention that @Amykins just in case Bean starts doing something similar.
Kiss precious Hazel for me and tell her way to go on her 1st.

Lol...I think he's already hit puberty. He's good at a lot of things but he is a brat. I plan on letting him breed, if charlie didn't pass away, they would be at it by now. He will have another mate as soon as we move. Hopefully sooner than later. He does go after my daughter sometimes, not biting or scratching but I think, ya know, she's only a little bigger than him. She laughs and runs. I don't like it but if I tell my hubby, he'll kill JoJo. He's falling asleep in his water tub right now. So sweet sometimes. My messed up life?!?:idunno
No, your life is that of busy mother and wife. You obviously work hard, I can tell. Hang in there.

Jojo is coming around now. He still won't eat feed but he eats everything else. I defiantly think he's in puberty or mating season or whatever u call it. He keeps going after my Hubby's legs, I don't let ry ry alone with him but my hubby thinks he's done grieving and its time for him to move from upstairs. He wears his diaper all day, makes a few laps and goes back into his room. If I try to get him to leave his room and we aren't going outside then he's not a happy duck. He luvs being with mama, I know. And even though its not a good time, I'm inquiring about a female for him. He needs a mate. I just honestly cant find the right breed around the right age. So JoJo is alrite for now. I'm taking good care of him!

Need advice. I just took in a flock of chickens and 5 Pekin ducks. Only one of the ducks is female. I love having several ducks, but I really don't think it is a good ratio. How hard would it be to bring new females into the flock? I would love to rehome some of the males and replace them with females. What do all of you think????? My poor female is getting a bit beat up.
