Pekin Duck Club!

I came to this site 4 weeks ago with a problem with my female mallard and I DID seperate her. I got a new 4 month old female pekin that I wanted to introduce her to the other male pekin that I have. Within a day the males ganged up on her and now I put her in with the other female I really don't appreciate the attitude you have taken with me. I am trying my hardest to figure this all out but I am not ignorant. This just goes to show that when someone innocently attitudes a few questions there are going to be people who are disrespectful. I will join a new forum and maybe someone there will be caring and understanding. Thanks for nothing!!!!

I too am new to BackYardChickens. Please don't go away angry. I am sure it wasn't meant to be mean.

Ducks are VERY confusing I will agree. But I have found BYC to be quite helpful. Hang in there!

This is a great forum as are all the forums on BYC. Usually the urge to come on a bit heavy is overshadowed by the urge to assist and in the above postings we all (myself included) could have probably been a bit more calm. However, when we become aware of a circumstance that a bird is at risk we do jump in and "say it like it is". Keeping so many drakes with just one or two females is an invitation for sadness. It is always tempting to get more males than females if for no reason that they are so much more attractive than the females are. And, if that is the motivation to getting involved with ducks then a flock of all drakes might be the answer. However, if there is even the hint of desire to breed or have eggs then gender ratios must be enforced on us the duck owner.

Welcome to everyone here. Please feel free to ask your questions and seek our assistance. Please do share your pictures with us and we will do the same on occassion with you. And, please know that if we get a bit testy it is for good purpose and not jumping on you. Just look at what we are saying and, like a duck, let the rest just roll off your back.

So part of Lilly's scab fell off, the whole scab/both parts, is almost completely flat, its a lighter brownish now, and most of the swelling is gone. That was only with ES soaks and iodine. I don't know what I should do now. Should I still try to remove the scabs or should I just continue treatment and see what happens?

Everyone is here to help. Anything that has ever been said, is for the good of the ducks. If some people come across a little harsh, it may be what is needed. I ask a million questions daily lol and I ALWAYS get the answers I need! Its a good place to learn!!! :hugs

Its awesome, I'm so happy. I'll just keep soaking and iodine every few days. I never gave her oral antibiotics, her leg was never warm well hot. You know what I mean

I just soaked her and I took this pic when I got her out of the tub.

You can see the swelling went down immensely and the part of the scab that went over the pad fell off. I can see the improvement! Thx again!!!
