I'm in a hurry but I scanned over this real quick. Just to throw it out there I used the es and clear iodine and the scabs have been coming off by themselves. It works amazing! It will help for sure!

So my pekin girl has a sore leg.
Don't know what happened. I noticed the other day, yesterday seemed much better.
But today she's not walking on it.
I separated her.
I have kiddie pools. I thought about giving her one so she can float. But not sure if it would do more harm climbing in.
Thoughts?
I gave her part of a baby aspirin

I feel that lukewarm water in a tub where you put her in - or somehow in lukewarm, not cold, water she does not have to climb or jump into or out of, is best for hydrotherapy.

And rather than aspirin, I would wait a day or two (to clear it from her system) and consider Advil, I read from hennible a vet said Advil was okay for ducks. I have a dosing note here somewhere . . . here it is

A note on pain killers for ducks. Straight from the vets mouth, ducks can have Advil.
For ducks 6-8 lbs 25-40mg twice daily adult tablets cut up or children's liquid Advil 1.5ml twice daily, orally.

Amiga’s arithmetic – 8 pounds 40 mg is 5 mg per pound
6 pounds 25 mg, is just over 4 mg per pound

so, 4 to 5 mg per pound of duck

I find T-Relief or comfrey salve really helpful for sore legs. And Epsom salt compresses - don't let them ingest Epsom salt, it is a laxative

Thank you so much for the info.
I'm going to the health food store and looking for comfrey salve. What is T-relief?
She's not keen on being caught and I hate to make her run. I did put her in the pool.
I thought the cool water would be best for inflammation (like ice) . She's been in their a couple of hours and seems quite happy so far. Not sure how long I should leave her there.
She doesn't look like she wants out but if rather not have her try. I'm getting the floating duck feed from mazuri so she can stay in there a while.
Definitely much happier but how long is too long in a pool? She's fully feathered.
I put cynder blocks in for step stones.
I will definitely get children's advil as well!
Can anyone tell me why warm and not cool water?
And if I do the comfrey: won't that get back in the water ? I like the floatin and keeping off it idea.

The lukewarm is just my feeling - there may be no difference using lukewarm versus cold - my thought is that cold water might reduce blood flow to the feet and legs - and increased blood flow would seem to be a good thing for healing…. That's my figuring - nothing scientific.

It takes the weight off, regardless of the temperature. As long as she can get out easily and safely by herself, I'd let her stay in as long as she wishes. I do the ointments at bedtime so it won't wash off. Mine don't have access to swim pans at night.

Hi! I am kinda tired so I may not be reading what you wrote correctly…. the clear iodine - clear, not brown - just gets a couple of drops put on the swelling and it's not wrapped. I think Haunted55 said it's important not to wrap it… but that's just from memory.

@Amiga , I got a look at their feet. Horrendous. And the wannabe girl was bleeding. Got her cleaned up. I will post pictures, but on my way to try and find clear iodine. Could you give me the run down on the preferred treatment that doesn't involve cutting? Thanks... will post when I get back, just upset he let them get this bad. :(
