I have a confession to make. I blew up the ducks. There are feathers everywhere. I change the water, it is full of feathers an hour later. I was told years ago that snow is really chicken feathers. Well, this snow is duck. And it is certainly a surprise! Most fowl wait until their second year to explode. And then there is the slow molt. Not as

when you come upon it, but certainly

as you wait day after day after day after day for it to finish.
Okay, if you are reading this, and you have never owned a bird, I am saying that the ducks are molting. And I mean they really "blew up"! I thought there was snow in the pen.

I spent months researching and designing a filter system for my duck pond that would filter out the dirt and the poop. I totally missed the fact that ducks moult, and the first day of her moult, bubbles' feathers clogged the pump and first filter stage.

@Foxysj7 I don't have Pekins but I believe I read here that it is normal.

Does anyone know of a place or person who would trade a male pekin for a female in the central Indiana area? I have three males and they fighting way too much. I have one thats getting it the worse and they will kill him if something doesn't happen soon. It's relentless I don't know what to do. I'm not against other breeds but I would like to find a pekin if I can. Thanks!

If your worried about one being killed or injured badly separate them or him for the other 2. until you can find one a home. We have a buy sell trade thread here on BYC and you can always put an add on craigslist but know this time of year they could go for food. There is also an Indiana thread in the "where am i where are you" section.
