Pekin Duck Club!

I was wondering the different incubators everyone uses, had a bad fluctuation with my styrofoam one and lost every off my pekin duck eggs! I was so disappointed! My boyfriend told me to find a good one and he'd get it for me. So that's why I'm asking.

YOu will get different opinions from everyone, I particularly LOVE my Hova bator, and yet it's styrofoam, Little giants have good reviews as well. The best one in the world in my opinion is making your own, why because you know all about it, you know how to fix it when something goes wrong and you can make more then one for a back up. You can also immediately replace parts if something quits on you etc.

but again that's just my opinion. All bators are going to have there issues, it's all going to depend on the time, you want to take to make sure everything goes smooth..

The bottom line is that whichever you go with you need to test it comprehensively for two weeks to work out the bugs. Cheaper bators will be somewhat inconsistent but even expensive ones can have problems. Whatever you decide, run it for two solid weeks to work out the kinks. Learn what makes the temp and humidity rise and fall. Figure out all the little quirks ahead of time so you'll know what to do in order to keep a consistent temperature and humidity. It takes electronics a few days to break in so you can use this period to find out if your particular incubator has problems without losing a batch of eggs.

Precious pictures and precious memories you are making.

The ducks she hand feeds. The chickens, she doesn't know what to do when one comes right up to her. One chicken has become brazen enough to come right up to me for treats. Another now follows her lead. Duckling about fell over from shock at them being at her feet (okay, she is short enough that the chickens are up to her waist). The ducks learned quickly that a shaking scratch can means treats!
