I have 11 Pekin Duck eggs that were supposed to hatch on 10/15. They didn't. Yesterday most of them pipped but still not zips and still no baby ducks. They are still very noisy and the eggs are shaking but nothing. Should i just leave them? Do ducks take longer than chickens to zip? First time for me hatching duck eggs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am going through this right now.. It took mine 24 - 48 hours to fully hatch.. I have 2 that just piped over night so I dont expect them to hatch until late tonight.. Are you using an incubator?

Yeah i'm using a little giant still air

. I forgot to mist the eggs while they were incubating but i have hatched chicken eggs before without misting them. These ducklings are just cracking the shell but not the membrane so i can not see any ducks just that they intentionally or unintentionally cracked the shell a bit with their beaks. I have no idea whats going on with them

. What are you hatching and are you using an incubator?

I am using a broody hen and have hatched 8 pekin/rouen mix so far.. I have 6 to go and 2 of them have piped... I have noticed that with mine they have broke the shell at first and the membrane was almost last... This is my very first time hatching anything and it was a great success... I did have to help 2 of mine as they were shrink wrapped... I wish I knew excatly what to tell you but I would wait and watch them... I know mine took forever, I thought longer then they should but like I said I am new to all of this..

Does anyone else have any information on this? They are still making noise but still have only pipped and the pips have been there for 24 hours for all of them. Doesn't even look like they are trying to work on it. They are just sitting inside their little eggs singing away

and making me a nervous wreck!!!

The only thing different is that they aren't really wiggling around as much anymore but still chirping.

LEAVE THEM BE! Some of my ducks have taken as long as 48-72 hours before. Do not help as they will die 2-3 days later. Just hang in there me and you are both hatching today or tomorrow and hopefully you will have some cute fuzy butts to show off

YES they do! Much longer. 36-48 hours from pip to zip, and maybe even longer, is absolutely normal for ducks.
Just leave them be and try to relax. It's vital that you leave them alone and give them time to rest before zipping.

Ducks really do take their sweet time while hatching compared to chickens and it can be very stressful if you're not used to it. So sit back and relax and you should have some ducklings before long
