I have read Pekin ducks usually don't brood. I have a female that has started sitting on them. Is she gone broody? I just hatched 15 about a week ago. Is there anything special I need to do for her?

First off do you have a drake? because if you don't you won't have fertile eggs which means she will be sitting for nothing. If the eggs are fertile then just make sure she is safe, where she is sitting so a predators can't get to her. Then you just make sure she has plenty of fresh water and food and sit back and wait.I have read Pekin ducks usually don't brood. I have a female that has started sitting on them. Is she gone broody? I can only speak for Muscovies but probably all ducks are simular mine will start laying and sit on the eggs only when they come into to bed. Then while they are continuing to build up their clutch may sit for a couple hours in the morning this may go on for a week or a little more, then one day you'll go out and they have made their nest and start to brood. then they will usually come off the nest once a day to bath[humidity] eat and make one of those awful broody poops.i have 2 pekin ducks..shitz n gigglez...they r unseperateable...like an old married couple...lol...so a few days ago shitz is outside our bedroom window quaking away walking around the house...so we go investigate and here gigglez has been laying eggs in the back yard underneath my rose vine..she has been laying on them every morning since for like 7/8 hours a day..she is there until around 12noon..then she gets up and resumes her daily activity...my question about ducks going broody is...should she be laying on the nest all day or is it normal for her to get up and resume her day...like chickens they stay on the nest the entire time unless they have to go to potty and/or eat....should i put some food and water next to her..i havent because i dont wanna scare her and then her abandon them...i checked them out the other day and she is sitting on 11 eggs...so...please tell me what i need to do to help her out...or is there a website i can get on...thanks in advance....
THANKS MS LYDIA...I will keep u all updated...they r right in my backyard under the kitchen window....the nest is hidden by my rose vine because i never made a trellis so its all over the place...when i got them as babies i had them up at the house in my greenhouse forever before they moved themselves down to the pond so i think that is why she is up there she feels safe...we found eggs everywhere though...one day we found eggs in the barn in the back of the horses stall...some behind a wagon cart..behind a container outside the chicken coop...lol...im excited hopefully she gets babies...
