One of my male Peking ducks got a tick on his neck yesterday, I don’t really know what kind of tick but I’m suspecting paralysis as he hasn’t really been able to walk since, I do also suspect that he had been bitten for an hour or so before I found the tick to remove it. I managed to remove it completely and have been keeping him hydrated and comfy but he’s not eating and I don’t know if that’s a problem.

He’s only slightly better than yesterday, being able to hold his head up for bit before he rests it on the towel I gave him. But he is breathing a bit too deeply and gasping like for my liking.

I’ve been told it may just be a waiting game to see if he pulls through but I want to know if there’s anything more I can do for him.

Wasn't aware that ducks could get tick bite paralysis. I know they can get botulism from consuming moldy feeds. If it is tick bite paralysis I think all you can do is remove the tick and wait, and give supportive care.

Maybe someone else can offer better advice.
