My chicken’s chest is swollen and I don’t know what to do…

Yes- I tried to tilt her and force her to puke it up and it wouldn’t come out
The articles advise against draining a chicken's crop like that as it is dangerous.

I don't blame you for culling her. Crop problems are often recurring and are often caused by problem with other organs. I'm sorry for your loss.

I realize you already killed this chicken, but for anyone else with a similar problem: I have a hen who looks like this and has looked like this for about 2 years. Her crop hangs oddly and it gives her chest a swollen appearance. I did order a crop bra, but she and I found it so miserable that I tried to see how she'd do without it. The answer: just fine! We're onto almost two years and as long as she seems to be eating/drinking/pooping normally, I'm going to hold off on further intervention.

It can look alarming at times, because the location of the crop means that it rubs on the branch where she roosts, so she has a little bald spot there. Sometimes when she's eaten for the day it looks like she has a huge growth poking out of her chest, but it's just her crop.

I would also be interested to know if you found anything unusual in the chest area if you did your own autopsy.
