Pekin Duck setting on eggs!!!

I have a Pekin duck that secretly laid some eggs in the chicken coop and is now setting on them. Since its getting colder now at night what are the chances they will hatch?

Good Luck! I had a Pekin hatch 9 ducklings earlier this year, and she raised 8 up to adulthood! One vanished, not her fault. My geese were setting but their clutch rotted so the day the ducklings hatched, they sat on the nest with her. They helped her take care of them! People always say Pekins wont set, but all of mine have! lol.

Best of luck with it! My oldest girl has been laying the last 8 days (although she took Friday off) and confused me b/c I just knew it was my call girl...but realized soon those eggs were just WAY too big to be coming out of a bantam duck

love to hear that your duck is setting on her eggs. i have a pair of pekin ducks and my hen has laid 13 eggs now. i am waiting to see if she will start to set on them. how are yours doing?

I just collected my first dozen duck eggs from my pekin because I have a neighbor who is buying them. Now I'm letting her lay and set on them starting tomorrow! I heard Pekins will not usually set full term though. & my hen lays her eggs in one of the chicken coops that the chickens roost and lay eggs in.. will she set in there even though I go in there to collect the eggs and the chickens go in and out of it too?

hope so. my pekin duck layed 15 eggs. she layed them in her duck house. then she made another nest outside in the dirt and layed another 8. the first batch started to smell, so i threw them out. the second batch got eaten by crows. (is it illegal to shoot them) now she will start again. i hope the best for you. maybe i will have little ones soon too.

hi my pekin is laying all around the place i have made a nest for her but she prefers to drop her egg whereever she is sitting at.....what can i do to get her laying in her nest i really want her to sit n hatch......

pekin ducks are not a good setter seems they get bored of it too soon. better off to take away and hatch yourself or under a good broody chicken hen
