I thought typically pekins didn't go broody but our girl is sitting on six chicken eggs. Once they hatch I know I'll have to take her pool away but what about feeding. I've learned from experience that ducks need duck food but what about the chicks? They can't eat the ducks food. How do I address this?

Try Blue Seal multi-flock. I noticed it when we were shopping. It is used for multiple types of birds. You could also raise the chicks in a brooder and feed them chick starter. That way your duck can swim.

Thanks! I'll see if my feed store carries it. I'd hate to take away her babies if I didn't have to. I might see if she'll tolerate me taking her away just for a feed and a swim a few times a day. She might enjoy the break :D

I don't know if they carry it there. Check for Blue Seal stores in your area, and if not, any multi flock should be good. I however recommend Blue Seal because it is good quality, my chicks love it, and it is cheaper than most on Amazon.
