Pekin duck with some kind of leg injury....

Help! I currently have a male pekin, about 5 months old, who has some sort of leg injury. The "knee" joint is not too swollen, but he can't move it and hasn't been able to walk around. There are no cuts, sores, bruises, etc. on the leg at all, so I'm afraid it might be some sort of sprain? If anyone has any suggestions or anything it would be super appreciated!

Welcome to BYC.

Could you post a few pictures of the leg, or upload a video of him trying to walk to a video platform like Youtube or Vimeo, and copy/paste the link here?

In comparison, does the leg feel warmer than the other?

Was this sudden or did it slowly appear over a few days?

Does the leg appear to function normally (bend at all joints)?

You can start off by setting him in a soft padded area, which reduces his movement, thus reducing the risk of him reinjuring the leg. A few soaks in some Epsom saltwater may prove beneficial, in addition, some administration of some B vitamins for leg health . If you don't believe there was any serious internal damage done, you can give him some aspirin in his water dish, the dose is one 324mg tablet in one gallon of drinking water.

You can do all the above, but what he'll really need is just rest.

It was rather sudden. I do know his foot got caught on some fishing twine that someone left out....could that have possibly dislocated something? He hasn't been walking at all, and I can't tell if he's in any pain. He can stand okay, but he leans mostly on his good foot. Both feet are around the same temperature. The "ankle" joint is fine. I have been letting him swim, since he mostly just floats around happily, and he doesn't use that foot so he just kinda scoots around in circles.
