He is kinda taller then the others so he reaches the bottom and kinda stand with one leg but does seem to swim a little bit he doesn’t play in the water like the others . He also arches his back when he does stand I guess to try to keep his balance I’m not sure . I’m going to try to put him in something deeper and see how he swims .Always with supervision.
Always with supervision.
I am taking him to the vet in the morning but I’m worried there gonna say there’s nothing they can do and to put him down, which I really really don’t want to doAlways with supervision.

He has no balance and gets flipped over onto his back , and that is what worries me the most because I don’t want him to be stuck on his back for long periods of time. He struggles to walk stepping on his own feet but he can kinda walk. He does this weird arching his back kinda standing on his tiptoes (I’m guessing to try to keep his balance) His neck seems a little crooked but I’m not sure if that is from geting flipped over and he doesn’t stretch his neck out like the others. He also doesn’t seem to preen himself anymore & He does eat and drink and poop but I’m not sure if he’s always eating and drinking as much as he wants because he struggles to walk over to it but if he is near it he does eat and drink. He also always seems to close his one eye randomly and still have the other open (I’m not sure if that means anything).Only you can make that decision about putting him down. If he is suffering then that should probably. Be the best decision but if they say he isn’t. Then take him home and just keep loving on him. Giving him support and hopefully he’ll be okay. Is he eating drinking and pooping. Other than sleeping a lot what are the other symptoms?

The vet does not feel it is a niacin deficiency though I am still going to continue to give it to him for a little longer. They believe it’s neurological and meningitis may have gotten into his spine when he was injured so they gave me antibiotics to see if that helps. They said the problems all seems to be on his left side. Thankfully they don’t think he needs to be put down or anything as of right now.I think a vet with examination would not needlessly want to put your duckling down. But he does have a lot of physical problems it sounds like from your description. You have to think of his quality of life if he can't get around like a normal duck or walk or swim or forage. Would he be a happy duck? Would you want to see him like this? You've tried the b complex but it sounds like he has other issues going on beside just weakness in his legs. It is sometimes a tough decision we have to make because we love them too and don't want them to suffer needlessly. Listen to what the vet has to say today and then decide what is best for your little one.![]()
