Pekin duckling problem

You can also use the Pelletized Bedding (for horses-- I guess)...The directions instruct you to wet it prior to use, however, if you are wanting to dry up the bedding, then do not wet the Pelletized bedding beforehand. Just add it dry and allow it to absorb moisture on its own.

Ducklings= mess. Best you can do is minimize it.

Lots of ideas on here for keeping their "drinking/swimming" area in one spot and the bedding dry---- I used a 9x13cake pan, with a matching sized cooling rack on top---placed two small cat dishes full of water on top of there for them to splash about as they please, the water/muck falls below and bedding stays dry....now that mine are older (just 3 weeks later) Ive swapped to a larger tupperware tote, with river rock on the bottom for them to really splash about in....does get a little more soggy around the edges but not to bad.

That is a very good idea

I agree and at this point that is all I am trying to do.

In my houses I use all horse pellets. It is the only one I found that did realllly well. The other is almost pointless. I cleaned the thing out every other day with shavings. You will not believe how much the horse corn cob bedding soaks up!!

how do I keep them from trying to take a bath in the drinking water because right after I cleaned it they got it Soaked I think that's what's causing them to get this way.

When they are little like this, raising up the waterer on a brick helps keep them out of it for a while. Then, when they are a bit bigger, provide a head washer for them. I've noticed that mine won't make such a mess of the drinking water when they have water that they can dip their heads into. You can search the forum for head washer ideas.
