I'm new here! I have 2 pekin ducks female and a drake. My momma has been laying on her eggs for about 24 days now give it take. She had 16 eggs but now from what I can see she only has about 7 she apparently has kicked some out. So I'm not sure what is going on. Advice is welcomed

That's what I was thinking! Or that they were not going to hatch so she tossed them. She is doing a great job sitting. She only gets off to hang out with daddy and play in the pool eat etc...I'm expecting to start seeing babies by the weekend maybe but who knows and will i have to bring them inside like I did my baby chicks or can I just them with her.

As long as she is a good momma you can leave the duckling with momma.. She will do everything that is needed to be done to take care of them. Just have to give them nonmedacated starter for them momma and daddy can eat it too.

I only have 2 ducks and she is not blocked off from the daddy he either plays in the pool walks around it lays next to her he does not go to far away from her. They actually don't leave each other's side very often. They are quite funny to watch. He is like the nervous daddy pacing and waiting for his babies. Or for her to hurry up and hatch the eggs so he can have his playmate back

Don't humanize them....Drakes can and have killed Ducklings when they hatch..Momma also could trample them in order to try to save them..Momma Ducks and Drakes act different when babies are involved....Best of luck...

I have had "wild" ducks and the daddy was so amazing with the 10 ducklings. They were Florida Ducks. They are kinda like malards just way smaller. But the whole family stayed together until the babies were old enough to fly off on their own and most of them stayed on the lake they were raised on. And the momma and daddy stayed a pair. It all depends on the animal and the personality .. Each one is different just like us humans. People told me not to let my babies mingle with the flock(chickens) but they all Take good care of the babies... Even all my male's. It all has to do with what they are used to. Of I was you I would let them be and just keep an eye like you said. He might be an amazing dad or he might be a little off with them... But time will tell. I think if you seperate them with them being a pair and only 2 of them you may stress them both out. Best of luck.
