I have two Pekin ducks which I got in the begining of April. Apparently I have a male and female. They are now sexually active. When should I expect eggs? They are free range along with my chickens. Will they lay eggs in the woods? or will they lay in the coop? I am sooo new to this and have been reading books but haven't found much on ducks, only chickens.

I think they lay somewhere around 5 or 6 months. I let our ducks out between 7and 8 in the morning and she has already laid her egg in the coop.

. Last year when I raised ducks that hatched in march they started laying in october. We had a bit of unusual weather so that could have been why. Also your ducks will most likely lay wherever especially when they first start laying. Do you keep them locked up at night? My ducks always lay in the early morning.

Yes, they go into the coop with the chickens at night.. it's so exciting I can't wait for my first egg! its a "hurry up and wait"
